Elinor Lamb - Featured Carver - Elinor Lamb was selected by the club officers as the 2010 Featured Carver.
Elinor began carving in 1979 after visiting a
woodcarving museum and learning about what could be done with wood.
While she started carving birds,
Elinor has
ventured into several different styles of carving including realistic
figures, caricature, chip, and relief. To give back to her community,
Elinor taught community education classes in
southeastern Minnesota, sharing her knowledge and skills with other
aspiring carvers. As featured carver,
Elinor
displayed several completed carvings throughout the show.
Raffle carvings - The 2010 Rochester Woodcarvers
show was supported by very generous
carvers offering their work to the club and those visitors and carvers
buying raffle tickets. The raffle generates the revenue we need to
offer free admission to the show - so no one will feel they cannot
attend. Thanks to everyone who helped make this year's show a success!
People's choice carvings - Rochester Woodcarvers Show visitors can vote for their favorite "People's Choice" carving at the show. The top three vote getters are selected to highlight the next year's show in advertising and other publicity. For 2010, Steve Murray won first place for his man reading a book, Gary Berg won second place for his two men talking at the Blarney Pub, and Scott Mogren won third place for his trio of woodburned crappies. Thank you to everyone who voted for their favorite carving! You play an important role in helping us pick your favorite carving!

member for outstanding service to the club and community by naming them
the "featured carver." For 2009, Tom Pike was named the featured carver
and greeted our visitors as they entered the show. Congratulations Tom
and thanks for all you do for the club!
Raffle carvings - The 2009 Rochester Woodcarvers show was supported by very generous

People's choice carvings - The Rochester Woodcarvers annual show includes a special opportunity
for our visitors and club members to vote for their favorite carving
from those entered into the People's Choice competition. There is no
prize, ribbon, award, or cash for the winners - they just have the
satisfaction of knowing that they have the most votes! The 2009 show
concluded with Norm Busta in first place for his lifelike walleye, Jim
Walts in second with his eagle, and Cheryl Jones finished third with
her playful polar bear. Thanks to everyone who voted for their favorite
carving - we'll see you next year!
Additional photos by Wayne Hendrickson - Wayne Hendrickson is a long time club member, past president, and "help
get it done" kind of guy. He also loves taking pictures and lends his
services to the club capturing show "candids" of exhibitors and
visitors. Wayne, thank you for helping preserve memories of this past
show!
