Fred Cogelow, a renowned woodcarver from Willmar, unveils one of his carvings at the Willmar Public Library. The carving, entitled “Old Man Kench (... and the Ladies)”, is a relief sculpture Cogelow said he carved from a piece of butternut more than 25 years ago. It was donated to the library by Tom Torgerson of Willmar, who purchased the carving several years ago.

Fred has provided the following summary of what he can discuss during the meeting:
"i'm willing to talk about most anything of interest to your carvers. in the past, i have done some critiquing of works/designs brought for such porpoises, and missile-aneous stories about my own carving history. given a lack of suggestions, i'll be disposed to discussing at some length the genre of carving in mezzo-relief, with discussion of design and execution, and samples of my own work along with edifying incomplete endeavors of the late Dave Rasmussen."

If you have any specific requests for Fred to discuss, please send a note to rochcarve@gmail.com and I'll forward them to Fred for his consideration.
Here is the planned agenda:
9:00 - start of regular club meeting
9:00 - 10:00 - club business, show and tell, and coffee break
10:00 - 11:30 - Fred - session 1
11:30 - 12:30 - lunch at the meeting - we will invite club members to bring "pot luck"
12:30 - 2:00 - Fred - session 2
2:00 - adjourn
Here are some photos of selected works by Fred:
