2021 Tree
The Rochester Woodcarvers have completed the 2021 Festival of Trees project! This year, we have “Gingiville” – a community of Gingerbread folks.
The concept is a village of gingerbread men, women, children, pets, etc. Travel the colorful candy pathways between the mouthwatering gingerbread houses. Visit with the numerous residents and their animals. Enjoy the cotton candy and ice cream cone bushes. Head up the Gum Drop Mountain Trail to go sledding or skiing. Stop to smell the Lolly Poppies. Take a rest on one of the S’more benches next to the star gazing gingerbread boy. The gingerfolks have learned about the sly fox waiting to offer a “ride” over the river. To avoid future run ins with him, they have a billboard encouraging folks to learn to swim at the YGMCA.
The tree is adorned with more than 130 handmade wooden ornaments. In addition there are garlands with stings of small wooden items, like stars, trees and moose. At the very top is a gingerbread man who is having a challenge getting the star all the way up to the top.
Along with the Rochester Woodcarvers, the Zumbro Valley Woodturners helped us with many of the “round” ornaments. They use their lathes to turn wood into many round ornaments! The Red Wing Woodcarvers also sat down to carve up a beautiful set of ornaments to add to our tree. Thank you to the ZVW and Red Wing folks! We have a great tree with your help and support!
A huge THANKS to everyone who helped with ideas, carving, construction and assembly/setup! This is truly a CLUB effort!

The tree went for $1,600 at the Gala’s live auction. This was the highest amount of all of the auction items that evening.
